Vincent's Words on his time performing on the Cruise Liners...
"People in Show Business always stress that many theatres and clubs have closed down gradually over a period of years, but a whole new outlet has opened up for them, namely cruising. It’s the same for the classical musician, and with P&O Cruises a pianist can look forward to performing on a decent Steinway grand piano.
There are other advantages too. On land, an artist could repeat the same programme in different towns, but on a cruise, each performance must be completely different, owing to the fact that it will be the same audience. This is something very appealing to me, as I love to present as many different concerts as possible. It is also good to present the life stories of the great composers. (and not so great!)
Chopin, Grieg, Brahms, Beethoven, and Mozart are just a few of the 20 or so composers whose lives can be summarized effectively when combined with their lovely music. The travel in itself can be exciting, and it covers every continent and culture.
Some people believe that performing music on a ship is just one long holiday, but of course this is not the case, as this photograph taken in Tahiti shows quite clearly."
