Most people are rather surprised that a classical pianist with a love of all the great composers should be an ardent football fan. Many people ask the question: ‘Where do you get your sense of humour from?’ My usual answer is that you have to have a sense of humour if you support Manchester City!

Fortunately, Vincent Paul, and Dominic are keeping the faith, but Patrick is a devout Scarborough fan. I suppose someone has to support them!

Maybe the following should be in the Guinness Book of Records: Although I have to accept that hopefully there will be other Classical Pianists who support Manchester City, I know for certain that I am the only one to have given a concert at their former ground. It was called ‘From Mozart to Maine Road, and Bach Again’. The concert was attended by some of the nicest people you could wish to meet, and was held in the social club which housed a very good Grand piano.
